Paseos y Rutas de Ibiza Ibiza - Ses Salines (South)

Itinerary: Ibiza - Playa d'en Bossa - Ses Salines - Sant Josep (optional).

Distance: 25 Kms each way, 53 Kms round trip, if you go as far as Sant Josep.

Difficulty: Totally flat road. The section reaching Sant Josep is very difficult because of the hills. Road surface in a good condition.

Instructions: Avda. España roundabout - Playa d'en Bossa - go past the cemetery on your left - when you reach an avenue turn right - Ruta del Falcó - Sa Canal road - Es Cavallet - Ses Salines - Playa de Cavallet - Salinas. To continue on to Sant Josep, keep going along the main road until the Ibiza-Santa Eulalia-San José roundabout.

Points of interest: The salt flats are an area of great ecological interest, as migratory birds such as flamingos and herons stop here. The beaches in this zone, such as Es Cavallet, have permanent dunes of great beauty. In Sant Francesc d'Estany you can visit a typical Ibizan 18th Century church.

Sant Antoni - Sant Mateu (West)

Itinerary: Sant Antoni - Santa Agnès (Santa Inés) - Sant Mateu.

Distance: 30 Kms round trip.

Difficulty: Mountain road, although it is tarmacked and in good condition. Bicycle with gears is required.

Instructions: Sant Antoni port roundabout- head for Santa Agnès - Sant Mateu (return on the same road and turn left at the crossroads) - towards Sant Rafel - Sant Antoni.

Points of interest: The small white churches of Santa Agnès and Sant Mateu (18th Century) are examples of typical Ibizan architecture. The zone is off the main tourist circuits and has its own rural character, known as Corona, to the west of Santa Agnès, which is an almond tree orchard valley.

Santa Eulària - Sant Carles (East)

Itinerary: Santa Eulària - Es Canà - Sant Carles.

Distance: 20 Kms round trip.

Difficulty: Flat, tarmacked road, with a small hill up to Sant Carles.

Instructions: Playa de Santa Eulària - Paseo Alameda - Avda. Sant Jaume - head for Es Canà - towards Punta Arabí - Cala Martina - Punta Arabí beach - Es Canà road - Sant Carles - Santa Eulària.

Points of interest: El Puig de Missa dates back to the 14th Century and its church from the 16th Century. There is an art gallery and an ethnology museum. On Wednesdays you can visit the hippy market at Punta Arabí. Sant Carles is a typical small Ibizan village, where you can enjoy the local gastronomy.

Cala Sant Vicenç - Cala Llenya (North-East)

Itinerary: Cala Sant Vicenç - Cala Llenya.

Distance: 23 Kms round trip.

Difficulty: Mountain road with steep hills. A bicycle with gears is recommended.

Instructions: Cala Sant Vicenç - turning to Sant Carles - S'Aigo Blanca beach - road to Sant Carles - Cala Llenya - go down to Cala Mastella.

Points of interest: 3 Kms from Cala Sant Vicenç you can visit the small church in this locality. Along the way you will enjoy some impressive views, so don't forget your camera, and take some photos. Sant Carles is a typical small but charming village, and Cala Llenya has a magnificent beach.
